For over twenty years, Katie has shared her passion for learning with students and teenagers and has cultivated her passion for helping students learn. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with degrees in both Cognitive Studies and Psychology. Katie’s studies provide her with a unique foundation for understanding the science of the mind and the process by which students learn to think, problem solve, and reason. She has done extensive research on the curriculums of various schools, built relationships with admission and learning resource departments, and has the knowledge and experience to usher families through the admissions process for college, boarding school and day school. Katie is dedicated to helping each student find the school or college environment where they can find their own personal success.
Katie has completed her graduate certificate in Independent Educational Consulting through The University of California-Irvine. She is a Professional Member with Independent Educational Consultant Association, the industry leader in educational consulting, and also Chairs the Charlotte regional chapter. Katie has personally visited more than 150 college and boarding school campuses and meets with admissions personnel on a regular basis.
For over twenty years, Trish has shared her passion for lifelong learning with teenagers at independent schools in the southeast. Twice awarded the Exceptional Faculty Award at CCDS, Trish is the educator that parents and students relate to and connect with on a personal level.
Having studied English, Environmental Science and Adolescent Psychology, both in undergraduate and graduate work, Trish approaches all aspects of life with an open mind, a focus on creative problem solving and a desire to always listen and learn. Additional professional development in curriculum development, mentoring new teachers and learning differences rounds out Trish’s expertise in the realm of educating teens and pre-teens.
Trish’s knowledge and expertise in adolescent learning and learning differences, emotional and social maturity and education best practices allows Trish to connect with families and provide unparalleled support whether it is the admissions process for college, boarding school, day schools or executive functioning support. Trish is dedicated to inspiring students to challenge themselves so they can walk confidently and optimistically as lifelong learners.
Together, Katie and Trish collaborate with every student and family throughout the advisement process. They both are dedicated in attending a minimum of three professional conferences per year and also are committed to visiting school and college campuses while meeting with admissions personnel to insure that they stay abreast of the ever changing landscape of education and executive functioning. In addition, both Katie and Trish have completed coursework in executive functioning through Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and are Certified Parent Coaches through the International Coaching Federation. Combined, Katie and Trish hold memberships in IECA, HECA, SACAC, TABS, SBSA, ICF, and The Enrollment Management Association.
